Portrait of Britain Winner, 2021
I'm delighted to be a winner of Portrait of Britain for the second time.
My portrait features Jack Eyers: "When I was 16, I had elective surgery to amputate my leg above the knee because of a condition that was becoming progressively worse. Before my amputation, I considered myself as disabled. I have a theory that when you have an amputation, you are reborn. Like a child, you need to start from scratch: learning how to walk, balance and face the world with confidence. The best way to practise this and develop motor skills is through sport and exercise." – Jack

I had the huge honour of directing the new music video for George Michael’s ‘Freedom! 90’. The project celebrates iconic artist George Michael and aims to inspire and empower younger generations through his legacy.
At the heart of this new video are 14 inspirational young people, who have each overcome a severe form of adversity in their life. This casting process was one of the most inspiring and emotional two weeks of my career. You can learn more about the full cast on George’s YouTube channel in an accompanying film which also goes live at 18:00. They are an incredible group of humans.
The new music video aims to highlight the importance of being true to yourself and finding your own freedom, with the cast performing to the powerful lyrics of the autobiographical song which saw George finally unveil who he really was: “I think there’s something you should know / I think it’s time I told you so / There’s something deep inside of me / There’s someone else I’ve got to be”.
Head to the George Michael YouTube channel to which the full length video and learn more about the amazing cast.
I was delighted to be commissioned by Westminster Council to capture some of the 3,000 volunteers that signed up to aid the local community during the Covid-19 pandemic. This selfless and inspirational collective form 'Westminster Connects'. The portraits can be seen on screens throughout London, including Piccadilly Lights, the largest advertising display in Europe. A fitting home for these amazing Londoners.
